Joy, Inc. PDF
By:Richard Sheridan
Published on 2013-12-26 by Penguin

The moment you walk into Menlo Innovations, you can sense the atmosphere full of energy, playfulness, enthusiasm, and maybe even . . . joy. As a package-delivery person once remarked, “I don’t know what you do, but whatever it is, I want to work here.” Every year, thousands of visitors come from around the world to visit Menlo Innovations, a small software company in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They make the trek not to learn about technology but to witness a radically different approach to company culture. CEO and “Chief Storyteller” Rich Sheridan removed the fear and ambiguity that typically make a workplace miserable. His own experience in the software industry taught him that, for many, work was marked by long hours and mismanaged projects with low-quality results. There had to be a better way. With joy as the explicit goal, Sheridan and his team changed everything about how the company was run. They established a shared belief system that supports working in pairs and embraces making mistakes, all while fostering dignity for the team. The results blew away all expectations. Menlo has won numerous growth awards and was named an Inc. magazine “audacious small company.” It has tripled its physical office three times and produced products that dominate markets for its clients. Joy, Inc. offers an inside look at how Sheridan and Menlo created a joyful culture, and shows how any organization can follow their methods for a more passionate team and sustainable, profitable results. Sheridan also shows how to run smarter meetings and build cultural training into your hiring process. Joy, Inc. offers an inspirational blueprint for readers in any field who want a committed, energizing atmosphere at work—leading to sustainable business results.

Inside counselling PDF
By:Anthony Crouch
Published on 1997-06-28 by Sage Publications Ltd

Inside Counselling is an original, innovative, and creative exploration of the experience of becoming and being a counselor and engaging in the therapeutic process. Written in a novel-like format, the book enters the internal, subjective world of counselling through its characters: students, counselors, clients, supervisors, and the author himself. Weaving together their perspectives and using |talk| as its main mediumùthe talk of counseling and supervision sessions, the training group, workshops, and the studentÆs journalùthe book breaks away from traditional methods and conventions to present complex theories, difficult concepts, and serious information in an engaging, focused, and manageable way through personal experience, reflection, and comment. Inside Counselling encourages its readers to think subjectively, to question theories that come solely from outside, to stay with and use their internal world as the main focus of counseling work, and it provides personal development exercises to help the reader access long-forgotten feelings. This is a memorable book, and one that is sure to promote and provoke controversy and discussion.

Book The Basics of Psychotherapy PDF Free

The Basics of Psychotherapy PDF
By:Bruce E. Wampold
Published on 2010 by Amer Psychological Assn

In The Basics of Psychotherapy: An Introduction to Theory and Practice, author Bruce E. Wampold presents essential background necessary for understanding the role of theory in therapy, and shows how understanding psychotherapy theory is the first step to becoming an effective therapist. Psychotherapy has existed in some form since the late 19th century, and has evolved over the course of a century to include a great variety of theories. Wampold explores the history of psychotherapy theory and its role in practice, and then gives readers the tools to understand the vast array of theories in current use. This book answers practical questions: What is the role of theory, and how does it relate to psychotherapy practice? Are some theories more valid than others? Does psychotherapy work? If psychotherapy works, how does it work and how do we know it works? How does a new practitioner choose a theoretical orientation? This fascinating discussion about the basics of psychotherapy-and the theory that grounds it-provides readers with everything necessary for making sense of and finding their place in this vital and ever-changing field. Whether encountering sychotherapy theory for the first time as a student or returning as a seasoned practitioner to reevaluate the great variety of theories, this book is an indispensible guide. The Basics of Psychotherapy may be read before other books in the Theories of Psychotherapy Series as an introduction to psychotherapy and its theoretical grounding. As such, it may be considered the first book to assign in a graduate theories course, or as a book that can be read with any other books in this series to provide a general view of psychotherapeutic theory.

Occupational Health: A Practical Guide for Managers examines the reasons why employers should address the health of their workforce. It explores the implications that health issues have for bottom line performance and offers guidelines for developing an effective occupational health policy and associated procedures. The authors are both senior professionals in the field and have a wealth of industrial experience to draw on. Book My Alien Self: My Journey Back to Me PDF Free

My Alien Self: My Journey Back to Me PDF
By:Amanda Green
Published on 2013-12-19 by

One of many 5* reviews... |What an interesting, fun and well written life story this is - I was engaged right from the start and couldn't put it down. Amanda's certainly packed a lot of exciting adventures into her life! I would thoroughly recommend this book not just to those suffering with mental health issues, but to those who would also like a jolly good read!|If I told you I'd been to twenty-four Countries (twenty-one by the time I was twenty-two), that I'd worked in Japan for nine months, toured Australia for six months, enjoyed seven months in Thailand and met and campaigned for the Orangutan in Borneo, you might think that I was pretty lucky. If I told you I'd worked in the hotel industry, for a sexual health department in a hospital and with prisoners in a drug cell block of a male prison, that I'd worked as a recruitment consultant, in so many office jobs I've lost count, as well as having my own company and multiple websites, at age thirty-six, then you might think I've had an interesting life. But if I added to that a mix of child rape, mental health problems, promiscuity, drug taking, alcohol abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, violence, mood swings, obsession, jealousy, loss of self worth, being raised by a mentally ill mother, bankruptcy, thyroid and gastro problems and public masturbation in school at age nine, then I am not sure what you'd think. But this is me; Amanda Green. This is my life, my story; my journey back to me from depression, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and Borderline Personality Disorder - mental illness which manifested during my life and came out 'to it's peak' in my thirties.I was able to use my collection of mementos, photos, diaries, journals, letters, emails and text messages of my past to finally see who I had become, and more importantly with a combination of therapy, medication and my writing, how I became that alien self and how I found the real me.The editor (Debz Hobbs-Wyatt) adds...This is the journey of a normal working class girl, trapped in a roller coaster world of disorder and excitement, love and joy, depression and anger - and her fight against stigmaWhile My Alien Self would be inspiring for any sufferer, their families or medical teams in its honest insights into living with a mental illness, it also has universal appeal. For who, at times, has not felt their life spin into chaos and wondered what is normal? This story effectively and openly highlights just how fine the line is between what is normal, and what is 'mental illness' And everyone who reads it will be able to relate to it.Contains explicit language and sexual scenesEmergence had this to say ''We very much enjoyed reading this honest and powerful account of Amanda's journey from diagnosis to recovery. We applaud such authentic and candid accounts of the devastation that can be experienced by those living with personality disorder and of the message of hope and recovery that the book conveys.'Bon Dobbs (Anything To Stop The Pain and Author of 'When hope is not enough') said 'While there are many borderline personality disorder memoirs out now (including 'The Buddha and the Borderline', 'Loud House of Myself', 'Get Me Out of Here', 'Girl in Need of a Tourniquet' and 'Poisoned Love'), My Alien Self goes a long way to providing hope to the sufferers of BPD. By publishing the steps taken to reframe certain ways thinking, through CBT worksheets and other exercises, the author has revealed that recovery from BPD is possible.'I self published this book and am very proud of that fact, because I was able to write it exactly as I wanted it to be written, with the help from my fabulous editor, Debz Hobbs-Wyatt. Whilst the massive help a publisher and agent gives, they do narrow down what is published, so I took on the journey to publish it and market it myself. There's a sequel out too, called '39'. It's quite different, but it leads on from this one :-)
